This academic coaching service is an educational intervention aimed at assisting students who have difficulty completing their homework independently. Coaching sessions are designed to enhance a student’s academic development. Specifically, students will learn study strategies, note-taking, listening, reading, comprehension, writing/research skills, test-taking strategies, organizational techniques, and time management skills. Our goal is to help students become more independent with these skills, so that coaching is no longer necessary.

The specific components of the academic coaching service are:

1. Meet with the student prior to the beginning of school in order to organize course material and discuss learning objectives.
2. In order to gain a more meaningful view of the students learning ability, the School Motivation and Learning Strategies Inventory (SMALSI) is a measure that is administered in order to show how a student learns and identifies problems that may be interfering with a student’s academic development.
3. Weekly meetings at the frequency of 1-4 times a week, where a coach will sit with the student and monitor him/her while the student completes his/her assignments. At the end of the meeting, the student’s upcoming assignments will be logged onto a calendar that will ensure the student is aware of upcoming assignments.
4. Parents will receive weekly progress notes that discuss the student's progress.
5. Upon the parent's request, the homework coach will have at least monthly contact with the student's teacher or advisor, with your written consent.
6. Coaches are available for sessions held at your home, or your child's school. This service is $60 per hour.
7. Our Tutoring service is $70 per hour where students receive subject-specific tutoring.
